Hello! Welcome to Keeping Up with the Joneses. Thanks for stopping by! We're a young couple living in the East Arkansas/Memphis area otherwise known as The Delta, with a love for family, friends, faith and food.

We believe that some of the best memories are created at home around the dinner table, and when entertaining those you love. This little blog is where I share recipes, wine, our home and our life. Enjoy! -Kendall

What You'll Find:

I love to try new recipes. In fact, I rarely make the same thing twice. I'm a bona-fide cookbook collector, Pinterest addict and magazine aficionado. On the blog, you'll see what I've got cooking.

I love wine, y'all, so from time to time I feature bottles I've loved. Crafts and decorating our little house are passions of mine, so you may see some of that. Thanks for stopping by!

Vacation Part I: Perdido Key

I'm baaaaaack! Sorry for the lack of posts over the past 10 days, but this blogger has been vacationing!

Keith and I have spent the last 8 days in the beautiful Gulf in Florida, spending most of our trip in Perdido Key, and the last part at Rosemary Beach. We had an amazing time, full of lots of relaxation and good times with friends. Because I have tons of pictures to share, I'm breaking this down into two parts.

Let's start with Part I: Perdido Key/Gulf Shores with our dental school couple friends.

It was lovely!

We had been planning this trip since November!

We left Friday afternoon, May 28th, for our beach road trip and arrived late that night/early Saturday morning. We spent the next 6 nights and 5 days having a wonderful time!

The colorful beach, not yet ruined by the oil

IMG_5328

We stayed in a great condo, and set up a big spread on the beach. We had two big tents, lots of chairs and plenty of beach space for relaxing! We also listened to some great music as we all let our worries wash away....

We had:

IMG_5152

Chairs for sunbathing

IMG_5153

Punch for drinking

IMG_5161

Floppy hats for shade

IMG_5330

Books for reading

IMG_5175

....and sandy, sandy toes!

IMG_5148

We also had corn-hole for playing!

IMG_5172

And we enjoyed it every day!

IMG_5151

Competition was sometimes intense!

IMG_5315

The boys attempted a sandcastle....

IMG_5318

And worked very hard....before a rain storm forced us inside for a few hours :)

The husbands were also very cheesy, at times.
They love to pose for the camera!

My Baywatch babe, Keith.

Charles, you are so funnnnnny

IMG_5332
Travis, catches up on some reading

Speaking of reading, we did LOTS of it!

IMG_5334
Julie works on the last Twilight book, Breaking Dawn

IMG_5340

I read a total of three books. More on that later!! It was pure bliss.

IMG_5162
Kayla read Dear John, then we watched the movie :)

And Lauren read lots on her Kindle.

We didn't JUST read though, we basked it the sun like it was our only job!

Hubby and I wearing some new swimsuits.
I like the little lobsters on his. Cute, cute.

We got lots of great pics on our last day together: Wednesday

IMG_5348

The whole gang!
Everyone looks more tan than they did when we arrived!

IMG_5359

Wives club!

IMG_5363

Again, they love to ham it up!

IMG_5368

Oh this was crazy!
We saw a funnel cloud over the water just as a storm was moving through.

IMG_5372

We could see the top of the funnel and then the bottom where it was stirring up the water, but we never saw it connect, unfortunately.

IMG_5376

We watched it move down the beach, pretty cool!!

Keith with a Remora, or suckerfish.

He and Chip spent lots of time out in the water with goggles and nets. They caught hermit crabs, baby flounders, and all sorts of random little things. But, this Remora was the coolest. Keith walked up to the condo with it stuck to his chest.

I call him the fish whisperer.

IMG_5189

We also had lots of fun in the evenings! We took turns cooking or grilling out and we went out to eat a few times, too. There was no lack of food or drink on this trip!

IMG_5192

We took lots of pictures every night on the balcony.
Sometimes wrangling the group together wasn't easy!

IMG_5206

IMG_5207

On this particular night, Keith was standing at the rail looking out at the ocean, when something comes flying down from above, right by his head.
It was a silver spoon.
Somebody in a higher condo dropped it and didn't say anything. It was pretty funny.
That spoon was in the grass, 6 flights down, all week.

IMG_5211

One night we had a pretty cool lightening storm.
I snapped this picture just as one lit up the night sky.

Winding down from a great day in the sun!

All the boys in white, by accident.

Again I say, they are such goofballs.
And that's why we love them!!

Last night in Perdido!

IMG_5380

We have been a little kissed by the sun. I love it!

IMG_5383

Again, boys, you never stop making me laugh!

IMG_5386

We headed to Florabama on our last night in town:

Look, ma! I'm in two places at once!

Vacation Part I was fab. We had a blast! Thanks, friends, for being great travel companions. We'll never forget our fun beach trip!

Coming up next: Part II in Rosemary Beach :)
