So, the last day has been amazing! For our second anniversary, Keith planned a surprise. I had no idea what we were doing! He just said to pack a bag and take Tuesday (today) off. Even though I told him it didn't matter at all to me what we did, he managed to far surpass my expectations! It has been fabulous!
Monday afternoon, Keith came to my office and pretty much forced me to finish my emails so we could leave just a tad early. As soon as we got in the car, he literally blindfolded me.
I thought this was hilarious.
Literally could not stop laughing.
I didn't know where we were going at all! So, we made a stop about 20 minutes after getting on the road to 'get gas' according to Keith. When he took off my blindfold, we were at the West Memphis Airport!
Whaaaaaaat!?!?!? I was shocked!
Ok, we are not, by nature, that big of 'ballers' as they say. My husband is a student, people! :)
My husband is lucky enough to work for a fantastic orthodontist in his spare time, Dr Burris, who has ortho practices all over the state of Arkansas, and a plane to get him around! He was gracious enough to help Keith out on his anniversary plans. Thank you, Ben!
(our pilot, Matt)
I was PUMPED! No clue where we were going and it didn't matter. This plane was cute and I'd never been on anything smaller than a commercial flight, so this was a first for me!
We had to wear the headsets and everything because it's so loud! I felt so......
...Bachelorette! Hah!
SO much fun!
The departing view from West Memphis.
Beautiful view of the fields!
Keith gave me a cute hand-painted 'anniversary' wine glass and even had the chilled wine to go with it!
I could get used to this!
So happy!!
Flying in that type of a plane was such a fun experience!
Keith finally told me where we were headed:
Little Rock! To stay at the Capital Hotel where we spent our wedding night :)
So romantic!
After a little over 30 minutes in the air, we were landing in Little Rock. So fast!
My romantic hubs won major points with me!
The grand Capital Hotel! One of the finest hotels in the South.
Beautiful lobby
It is so amazing!
Our lovely room...
Love the details!
Next up, exchange gifts! We stick to the traditional list of anniversary presents. Last year was paper, this year was cotton!
An adorable half-apron with my name on it!
MRS. JONES!
Oh, I just love this!
For Keith's present, I really struggled. I didn't want to just get any ol' cotton shirt or clothing item. So, I got a gift card for us to have a quilt made of our t-shirts from college. We dated all 4 years at the University of Arkansas and have TONS of t-shirts from all the parties, football games, and sorority/fraternity things we did together. So, I wrapped up a few t-shirts to get us started on our 'selection process' and gave him the gift card. Should be fun!
OH my goodness. The scallops I had were incredible. But then again, everything we had was incredible!
The couple sitting next to us was celebrating 55 years together on the same night. It was so cute! Gave us something to look forward to :)
They knew it was our anniversary and brought us some extra goodies, that we could hardly even eat!
The next morning (this morning) was not planned, and we could do whatever we wanted!
Dr. Burris recently acquired a new plane and his pilots needed to spend the day getting in additional flight practice, so.....
We grabbed our best man, Clint, and he joined us for an adventure on a bigger plane!
Clint loves aviation, so he was thrilled to be hangin' with us!
We took off for Fayetteville for lunch! Why not?
View of Little Rock out the window...
What a lovely day to be off work and flying around Arkansas!
The view of the Ozarks...
Flying over campus! So awesome!
In just an hour, we were in Fayetteville for a quick lunch. It's amazing how quickly you can get around in one of these things :)
We ate at Hog Haus....
...right on Dickson Street!
We enjoyed our quick lunch and drove through campus on our way out! Sorry to my friends in NWA that we didn't call, it was last minute and we weren't there more than an hour.
Anyway, we headed back home after our adventurous 24 hour anniversary getaway, and took naps!
It was so, so, so relaxing, Keith and I are so blessed and really enjoyed our time together. He is such a sneaky romantic, and loves to surprise me! So, thank you, Keith, for making me feel so special! Oh, and you don't have to try and top this next year, I'll be in charge of the planning! :)
