10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1.....

We had a little New Year's Eve soiree at our house last night. Our Memphis friends came over and we enjoyed a delicious meal and toasted to the new year together. Here are the pics!


First, let's start with the decor:

We had a sit down dinner for 10. So, I wanted to get out all of the nice stuff! I used as much of what I had as possible so that I wouldn't have to buy anything! The theme was silver and white, with punches of bright colors. I also had to have 2 tables, so these are the pics of the big table.

I got the big silver sparkly place mats as a Christmas gift from Mom :) I love them!!
Earlier this year, Ms Penny (my MIL) found a set of plates and mugs in her storage that have the silver swirls on them and she gave the set to me! I hadn't used them yet, but knew that New Year's was the perfect time. I set the smaller plates over my white square dishes, and added a headband at each girls' seat.

I also made some place cards. I had a sheet of silver scrapbook letters left over and had just enough letters to spell everyone's name. I had to use a combo of upper and lower case, but I kinda like that fun look!





At the boys seats, they got 2010 sunglasses. They loved 'em!





For the centerpiece, I got crafty!!! I bought square mirrors from Garden Ridge (couple of bucks each), and I also got the 4 big unscented candles there, too. You don't want to use a scented candle on a dinner table, it will compete with the food (read that in Southern Living!).
Anyway, I got wooden numbers from Michael's and sprayed them with silver spray paint and coated with glitter while they were still wet. Then, I cut 4 strips of wrapping paper (that I already had) and taped it around the candle. With a hot glue gun, I attached the numbers.
I really like the way these turned out. The little diamond confetti things are from Pier 1.





I think it turned out pretty cute and festive, using almost all things I had already!



Because we had 10 people, we had to have 4 sit at a card table. I didn't have 10 of any of my dishes, so I had to barrow and improvise. So, this one looks a little different.



I got silver charges from Hobby Lobby ($1 a piece), borrowed 4 round white dishes from Ms Penny, and then found the peacock salad plates at Dillard's right before Christmas. I wasn't even looking for anything, but they were selling these for like $2 each! What a steal! So, I snagged 4 for this table. I also happened to have 4 glasses in blue that matched perfectly.




It was a cute little table, and too small for a centerpiece!





I set up a little drink area on my entry server table. I got out all of the silver ice buckets and pitchers I could find.



On my champagne glasses, I stuck scrapbook sticker numbers to make a countdown. They removed easily when the night was over :)
I lined my white tray (from Target, comes in handy A LOT) with the same wrapping paper I used on the candles.




I filled a small flower vase with sparkly horns and set some pink sunglasses on it.





The coffee table became the appetizer area. I got out my silver platters, 2 glass candlesticks and used 2 red candles from my Christmas decor. I also found cute little toothpicks from Party City with pom-poms on the end, see 'em?




On a crystal cake plate (that doesn't get enough use), I stacked a party hat and all the horns and other festive stuff around it.





We took down Santa and replaced it with a clock for New Years. I bought this a few weeks ago on sale at Hobby Lobby knowing that I'd need something to go on the wall where the tree is once the holidays were over. We decided to go ahead and get our use out of it for the countdown!



So, the house was all ready for a party. We'd made some wonderful food. It was time for the guests to arrive!

After enjoying lots of yummy appetizers, it was time to eat! I did a very poor job of taking photos while we all ate. Here's what was on the menu:

-Spinach salad with red onions, bacon, mandarin oranges and roasted pecans. I made my favorite salad dressing, Honey Pecan.

-Creamed corn and twice baked potatoes brought by Julie, green bean casserole and bread from Lauren and honey-ginger pork tenderloin made by Keith and I. Such a yummy dinner!

-Dessert was chocolate mousse. I was nervous to make this because it seemed complicated, but it turned out great!!

Now it's time for me to clean up after the party, make some new year's resolutions, take down the Christmas decor, and freeze my tail feather off at a Hog football game tomorrow. I better get started!!
