Hello! Welcome to Keeping Up with the Joneses. Thanks for stopping by! We're a young couple living in the East Arkansas/Memphis area otherwise known as The Delta, with a love for family, friends, faith and food.

We believe that some of the best memories are created at home around the dinner table, and when entertaining those you love. This little blog is where I share recipes, wine, our home and our life. Enjoy! -Kendall

What You'll Find:

I love to try new recipes. In fact, I rarely make the same thing twice. I'm a bona-fide cookbook collector, Pinterest addict and magazine aficionado. On the blog, you'll see what I've got cooking.

I love wine, y'all, so from time to time I feature bottles I've loved. Crafts and decorating our little house are passions of mine, so you may see some of that. Thanks for stopping by!

Seize the Clay & Starry Nights

This past Thursday night, we celebrated Kayla's birthday early. Her actual birthday falls on December 23, and things are always crazy with Christmas, and we'll all be out of town that day. So, we surprised her early and had a big night of fun!

First, we met at Seize the Clay in Memphis to paint a piece of pottery. This was so relaxing!

Lauren starts a platter, that will end up being very cute!!

Courtney is getting married in June and did her platter in wedding colors, very neat!

There's Kayla down there on the end, huddled over her dish!

I made a little cupcake dish, just for fun. I decided to go with something small. I knew if I picked a big platter, I'd be there all night trying to perfect it. Plus, I have too many platters. Keith doesn't want any more in our house! :)

IMG_1731
Julie in deep concentration on her dots! She was trying to match an item she already had.

IMG_1732
Lynsi made a very cute treat jar for her cat. Lynsi is the artist in the bunch, she teaches it to middle schoolers! So, hers was very precise. Plus, she used to work at a pottery painting place!

IMG_1733
Kayla's very cute and appropriate Happy Everything dish. This girl is always happy!

IMG_1735
The gang with our finished (ready-to-be-fired) pieces. Can't wait to pick them up next week!!

Next, we went to Olive Garden for dinner. I'll admit, it was pretty good! I know, Kelsey, I felt like a huge traitor!! But, there's no Noodles in Memphis :(

We heart scarves. As you can tell.

Our dinner was hilarious. We sat girls vs boys at a long table and we had a time crunch to make it to the next activity. So, we ended up with an awesome waitress that had a great attitude for a group like ours! She picked on us a little and gave the boys are hard time. And, we made it on time to the next stop:

Starry Nights at Shelby Farms.
A drive-thru lights display.
It was beeee-aaa-uuuuu-tiful.

About to start the tour.

IMG_1745
Good thing the Sisco's car has a 3rd row of seats, all 8 of us can fit!!

IMG_1747
This was very cool. It was like mother nature blowing wind into a windmill that made like 3 other things happen.

IMG_1748
This was something we drove under...

IMG_1755
This was my favorite part, we sat and watched for a while.

IMG_1760
It was a big chain-reaction, domino-affect thing. The whole side of the hill would light up, then these large round balls would bounce down the hill, hit the tree, and light it up. It was very hard to get pictures of!

IMG_1761
The tree was big and beautiful when lit up!

IMG_1753
Again, very hard to get pictures of!

IMG_1767
This way, says the nutcracker.

IMG_1768
Very cool blue tree by the water.

IMG_1772
This scene went through all the seasons of the year. This was the Christmas part.

IMG_1779
Driving under this blanket of stars was magical!

IMG_1780
Awwww, how sweet!! At least one person has used this to propose :)

IMG_1782
Classic nativity scene. I'm happy to see things that represent the reason for the season!!

IMG_1787
At the last display, we got out in the frigid cold and took a few pics. I love this girls one :)

IMG_1791
They were very cold and unhappy with us for dragging them on top of this hill.

Next things, Stop #4, was back at the Trammells for birthday cupcakes.

IMG_1799
Group picture. We love those b-day hats and have gotten a lot of use out of them!

IMG_1798
Umm, yeah. We're a close-knit group!!
No wonder they call us the Swingers Club.

IMG_1803
Happy Birthday to Kayla!

IMG_1804
Happy birthday to YOU!

IMG_1807

It was a really, really fun night from start to finish! I think we were together from 5:30 til 11:00? Yep, that's love.

Happy EARLY birthday, Kayla! We're glad you had a big day that wasn't caught up in the busyness of Christmas week :) We love you!
