Thursday evening, Keith and I went to a "Golden Grad" dinner for UT Dental School. It was part of a weekend long reunion for the graduating classes of 1952. The current class presidents from each year attended as student representatives, so that's why we were there.
It was so interesting to see all of these cute old men and their wives visiting with each other about their years in school. 50 years in any profession is a long time, so I know they've seen it all.
At one point in the dinner, they handed out individual certificates and spoke briefly about the Dr.'s accomplishments, etc. Gary has practiced with the same partner for 45 years and still works a few days a week. John plays golf 6 days a week and has been married for 60 years. Richard has won numerous awards and is a member of every dental society on the planet...etc.
Just hearing all of these amazing things really put it into perspective for us!
I could tell that the people in the room were still close and had so many memories together. Graduating from school was only the beginning, too. Some had like 5 kids and 12 grandkids. They even mentioned if the Dr. had children or grandchildren continue on to be dentists, too. 50+ years of marriage!? AMAZING!
Halfway through the dinner, the dean of the dental school, who was at our table, wrote "2062" on his program and held it up at us. WOW! I can't imagine that year. Hopefully, Keith and I will be happy and healthy and coming back to a reunion weekend with our old friends :) We'll have been married 54 years by that point. I hope to see that day!!
