Hello! Welcome to Keeping Up with the Joneses. Thanks for stopping by! We're a young couple living in the East Arkansas/Memphis area otherwise known as The Delta, with a love for family, friends, faith and food.

We believe that some of the best memories are created at home around the dinner table, and when entertaining those you love. This little blog is where I share recipes, wine, our home and our life. Enjoy! -Kendall

What You'll Find:

I love to try new recipes. In fact, I rarely make the same thing twice. I'm a bona-fide cookbook collector, Pinterest addict and magazine aficionado. On the blog, you'll see what I've got cooking.

I love wine, y'all, so from time to time I feature bottles I've loved. Crafts and decorating our little house are passions of mine, so you may see some of that. Thanks for stopping by!

Wapanocca

Yes, that's a real name. Wapanocca National Wildlife Refuge.

It's right up the road from Marion, in the lovely town of Turrell (pronounced Turl, like Earl).

We've driven up there once before on a lazy Sunday, it's only a 10-15 minute drive from our house. Quite simply, it's just a nice uninterrupted piece of nature.

Lots of turkey, deer and ducks can frolic out here in this little delta swamp land. I say little, but it's pretty big. You drive down dirt roads for what seems like forever around this park!

swamp with beautiful trees!

It was really close to sunset when we arrived so the bright colors only lasted a short while. Next time, we want to plan ahead and bring our couple friends. Maybe have a little picnic, see some wildlife roaming around, and just breathe in that country air!

If only I could capture the way it sounded here. Dozens of birds, ducks, or geese quacking; not sure what they were! Keith would know...

This was taken from the observation pier they've built.

The sun was juuuust getting ready to set.

Ahh, isolation! We were the only people out here.
Well, we did pass a few other cars on the dirt roads. But, we felt like we were alone!

A weak attempt at a self portrait squinting into the sun.

In about 10 days or so the leaves ought to be changing better than they were this Sunday.

I love my truck man.

Tell me about it, partna.

hehehe. scrunched up nose isn't my best look :)

More green swamp. The water fowl love this little spot.

And, that's all folks! We did see a momma and baby deer, but I didn't have my camera ready. Plus, it got dark pretty soon so we had to do the skedaddle!
