Hello! Welcome to Keeping Up with the Joneses. Thanks for stopping by! We're a young couple living in the East Arkansas/Memphis area otherwise known as The Delta, with a love for family, friends, faith and food.

We believe that some of the best memories are created at home around the dinner table, and when entertaining those you love. This little blog is where I share recipes, wine, our home and our life. Enjoy! -Kendall

What You'll Find:

I love to try new recipes. In fact, I rarely make the same thing twice. I'm a bona-fide cookbook collector, Pinterest addict and magazine aficionado. On the blog, you'll see what I've got cooking.

I love wine, y'all, so from time to time I feature bottles I've loved. Crafts and decorating our little house are passions of mine, so you may see some of that. Thanks for stopping by!

Still no running...

....No running yet. I did do a walk around the neighborhood on Sunday (before I headed into the office for 7 hours of work). Not my ideal leisurely weekend. The weather is starting to become so wonderful, I'm sure I'll get out there and enjoy it again soon. Maybe when things slow down at work....whenever that day comes!

With the summer heat fading, I REALLY need some fall baking in my life. I have purchased everything to make homemade pumpkin bread. Mmm, mom's recipe and I can't wait to do that. In the meantime, I have added a lot of fall 'scents' to the homefront. I've got Aromatique potpourri by the front door, a caramel candle on the coffee table, a raisin scone reed diffuser in the kitchen, and a spiced nutmeg Wallflower in the bedroom. If I haven't been baking, it sure as heck smells like it around here. Lousy substitute for the real thing. I know. Baking is on my to-do list.

That's all for now. Must get sleep!

Clarification to the Blog

Oh, my sweet husband. He reads my blog.
When I got home from work today, he pointed out to me that my most recent blog post implied that I was the only one that did the dishes. Poor Keith. He gets no respect. So, for my hard workin', house cleanin' husband, I say:

He does the dishes! He's cooked dinner for me as a surprise. He dusted and did the toilets when I was in Phoenix. He takes out the trash. Today, he organized the garage all on his own. He's pretty perfect. I'm one lucky lady.

Now you all know. The secret is out. I'm not the only one doing the dishes :)

Bad Blogger. Lazy Girl.

What's my problem? I am such a bad blogger. I think I have blog anxiety. Yes, that's a new term. I just made it up. I have recently added "make a blog post" to my mental to-do list. That's sad. Must slow down and take time to write....
I've been so dern busy lately. Work is a crazy mad house. But, I love my job so it's ok. Anyway, I come home late, tired, hungry, and headed for the couch. I eat dinner and if I cook that dinner then I do the dishes, of course. The kitchen must always be clean. Pet peeve of mine. So, then I'm really tired. Couch, TV, come to me, baby. I'm drained of all motivation. Keith studies and I fall asleep watching something like Dancing with the Stars. For the past three nights this little Mrs has been asleep by 9:45.
So, I need to add some kind of weeknight exercise. Otherwise, I'm always going to be tired. Now, if you know me, you're laughing right now. Kendall, exercise? hahha. See, it's really not my thing. I can probably count on my hands the times I've done any sort of "work out". And, I'm not athletic, either. So, my initial plan is to start running. Ok, ok, ok ...first, I'll begin with a lot of speed walking around the neighborhood. Then, I'll evaluate running.
Speed walking is the new plan. Not the kind of walking those Olympic chicks did. Just normal healthy jog-like walking around my quaint 'hood. Starting tomorrow. No, tomorrow is Friday. Starting Saturday. Yes, Saturday. After I sleep late and make breakfast for me and my little studious roommate.
.....We'll see how the first attempt goes...

Headed to Sunny Phoenix...

Tomorrow morning, I'll be heading to Phoenix, Arizona for work. I'll be there until Thursday night. I'm excited about the trip because it's going to be a very neat conference. But, I think I'll really be missing Keith by the time I return. We haven't been apart very often in our relationship, much less since we got married. So, it should be interesting to see how we both fare.
I wonder what he'll eat all week
. Hopefully he won't slump into a deep depression and abandon all housekeeping and personal hygiene duties. Surely not. He might not even get sad at all. Heck, he'll probably throw a party for all his classmates (he has kinda been itchin' to entertain). Hmmm. Keith, are you reading this? Don't get any ideas.
Anyway, I'll be in the hot desert if anybody is lookin' for me...

Birthday Fun

Thanks, everyone, for your birthday wishes! It was a good day and a very fun night with friends. Keith and I drove to Little Rock in time to meet "the gang" at Copper Grill for dinner. Afterwards, we listened to a great blues band at Sticky Fingerz. Among some of the presents, I got a beautiful pearl coin necklace and charms for my bracelet from Keith and our parents gave me some cute Halloween decorations for the house (one of my favorite holidays)! I'll have to post some pictures of our nest in all its Fall glory.
What more can you ask for on a birthday than to be surrounded by people you love? It was just wonderful. Thanks again!

Good Luck, Keith!

Mr. Jones has his first big test today. It covers the past 4 weeks of school. Good luck to him! He studied his little heart out this weekend... and even missed an Arkansas Razorback football game (the first one in years to not attend)! Which, speaking of the Hogs, the outlook isn't good for the rest of the season...

Dr. Jones

My wonderfully awesome husband was elected to a very important position today....President! After today's voting, he is the D1 Class President for the next 4 years of dental school. I'm really proud of him! I know he will do a great job. He is a natural leader, and it helps that he is so laid-back and relaxed about things.
He follows in the footsteps of some fine men..... My dad and uncle were both senior class presidents at dental school in LSU. It runs in the family, huh!

Congrats, Keith!

I am pleased to announce that my sister-in-law, Meagan, is now a TriDelta pledge. I'm so happy for her! For the past 5 years, I have tried not to make her feel pressure to join my sorority, but I couldn't be more proud of her choice! She's going to love it and they're going to love her! Now we are sisters in more ways than one...

Here are some highlights from the (very hot) Bid Day. It was nice to visit my old stomping ground:

Isn't she cute?

Bekah's Wedding

My dear friend Bekah got married this summer, the weekend before me and the Mr, in fact! It was beautiful! Her pictures are great. I'm flipping through them today, and I realized that I'm doing something goofy in so many of them. Guess I wasn't paying attention to the photographer...

at least it's not me in that one...

What is with that smirk?

And, I look like I have my hand on my soon-to-be-husband's crotch. But, I don't. Promise.

Now, that's a good picture, and I didn't mess that one up :)
