Hello! Welcome to Keeping Up with the Joneses. Thanks for stopping by! We're a young couple living in the East Arkansas/Memphis area otherwise known as The Delta, with a love for family, friends, faith and food.

We believe that some of the best memories are created at home around the dinner table, and when entertaining those you love. This little blog is where I share recipes, wine, our home and our life. Enjoy! -Kendall

What You'll Find:

I love to try new recipes. In fact, I rarely make the same thing twice. I'm a bona-fide cookbook collector, Pinterest addict and magazine aficionado. On the blog, you'll see what I've got cooking.

I love wine, y'all, so from time to time I feature bottles I've loved. Crafts and decorating our little house are passions of mine, so you may see some of that. Thanks for stopping by!

Last Minute Rustic Tablesetting

When I came home from work on Friday to find that Keith was gone to the gym, I decided to set the table really nice at the last minute to surprise him. I had planned to cook dinner at home anyway. But, instead of the usual place mats or even more lame, dinner in front of the TV, I thought it would be a good excuse to bring out some nicer things!

It's not china and crystal, but the rustic look was right up Keith's alley!

I remembered I had a few yards of burlap leftover from another project. So, I cut it into a strip and frayed the edges with my fingers.

I also rounded up our two antler candlesticks (wedding gifts)

Simple is good!

I love our chocolate brown linens!

Keith loved the 'rustic' table! We had a good dinner, shared a bottle of wine, and sat there for hours just talking and catching up in the candlelight. It was so romantic!

Check out my menu from this past week, I've updated it with the results of all the things we tried. We had a couple of winners!

That's lovely! I think it's important to use the things you have, not just for big group gatherings, but even just for dinner for two...or one! I like to set the table special for Sunday dinner. Last night I had little white pumpkins strewn about and candles lit. Makes an ordinary night feel special.

Love the table setting! I really enjoy your Menu Monday, as I have started doing it myself. On Saturdays I gather my recipes for the week, make a grocery list, and shop on Sunday after church. By doing this, I save about $40 each shopping trip!

I am so glad I saw this on your blog as well as many others! Thanks again! :)
